Remembering Martin Neethling
A Pillar of the Kenton 100 Family
It is with heavy hearts that we honor the memory of Martin Neethling, who passed away in July 2026.
Since the very inception of the Kenton 100, Martin served as the heartbeat of our event’s timing and accuracy. Tasked with managing timekeeping, he took on one of the most demanding, detail-driven, and high-pressure roles of the entire race—and performed it with unwavering precision, patience, and good cheer.
Beyond the numbers, the stopwatches, and the spreadsheets, Martin was a friendly and reliable face at the finish line. Whether welcoming an elite contender breaking records or cheering on a weekend runner completing their personal goal, Martin made sure every participant’s effort was measured and valued.
His dedication behind the scenes helped build the foundation and legacy of the Kenton 100 from day one. His absence at future start and finish lines will be deeply felt by athletes, volunteers, and the entire community alike.
We extend our sincere condolences to Martin’s family, friends, and loved ones. His legacy of integrity, service, and warmth will forever remain a part of the Kenton 100 history.
Rest in peace, Martin. Thank you for keeping time for us all.
