How it all started

Social. Fun. And a little quirky 🤓

Kenton 100 is the brainchild of Mark Crandon, local to Kenton on Sea, Eastern Cape.

Founded in 2019 when Mark became interested in 100 milers, he approached Shona Bell to help launch this epic ultramarathon and put our small town on the map.

This is a 100% local initiative run by passionate sports enthusiasts from our town. Should you wish to get involved in any way, please get in touch with info@kenton100.co.za.

Our why

Why?  Why not!  Some of our runners share their passion 💞

ROXI SMITH (WINNER 2022)

What can your mind do? We know the body can do it, but will your mind let you. What a great way to challenge your limits. Find out who you really are and realise that anything in your life is possible. People ask me how I trained for it, how did I do 160km on the day, truth is it was more mental prep than physical and no I have no idea how you run 160km, you just do. Pushing through those mental blocks on a journey like no other does leave you feeling a little in awe of yourself.

JOHAN BRITZ (WINNER 2021)

Comrades calls itself the Ultimate Human Race. It is wrong. If you want to find out what you are made of as a human, you enter a 100 miler. Nothing brings you face to face with yourself after you’ve broken yourself down to the core, as what a 100 miler can.

CANDICE NORDEN
Why would I do a ultra? The curiosity of what is over that next hill and how far can I push myself to that level where exploration meets physical boundaries.

Ready, steady, go!

The Sunshine Coast’s most beautiful (and toughest!) race 😎

The Kenton 100 ran it’s first official race in November 2020.  This loop around Kenton  has been popular with runners for years.    When our founder Mark Crandon’s interest peaked in 100 milers he suggested we use our “regular” loop ten times.

The route is a well marked circular 10 mile loop which includes beach, dunes, river causeways, stairs, road and trail, all through the beautiful, quant and hilly town of Kenton on Sea in the Eastern Cape.  With changing tides altering the beach routes to the stars above you at night, every moment is memorable.  The loop also allows for family and friends to continually support those on the longer runs.

There are 4 distances to choose from – 100 miles, 40+4 miles, 30 miles and 10 miles – making this route a great choice for both ultra athletes to recreational runners and walkers.

100 miler

For our Ultramarathon runners.  This is a tough route and totals over 4000 meters of climb in total.

]

60+4 miler

Instead of 100 miles you can do 100 km 😉.
A good challenge, for those who found the 30 Miler too mild...

]

30 miler

For your more advanced runners looking for a good challenging trail.

]

10 miler

A tough route, but can be enjoyed if you're walking fit.

Kenton on Sea is based in the heart of the Eastern Cape and has some of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. Visit our tourism site kenton.co.za for more info.
